About the Efemia Bladder Support

The Efemia Bladder Support

Efemia Bladder Support is a non-surgical device that reduces leakage due to stress urinary incontinence. It is reusable and easy to insert and remove on your own.

What is Stress Urinary Incontinence?

Stress urinary incontinence is defined as involuntary leakage on effort or exertion. Meaning that you experience bladder leaks when you for example are working out, lift something heavy, sneeze, cough or laugh.

Stress urinary incontinence is the most common form of incontinence and affects many women at some point in life. Ordinarily, when extra pressure is placed on the bladder, the urethra closes with the help of the pelvic floor muscles contracting forward towards its ligaments, preventing urine leakage.

However, if you have damaged ligaments or weakened pelvic floor muscles, the same pressure on the abdomen can instead push the system into open mode, causing urine to leak.

Simple to use, safe and effective

How it works

The Efemia Bladder Support is worn in the vagina. When pressure is placed on the bladder, the mid-urethra will be lightly pushed against the device’s support rings, making the urethra bend thereby reducing leakage, or stopping it.

The device is inserted into the vagina until the handle sits tight against the body and the support rings are
completely through the vaginal opening. The labia should then cover the handle. You can still pee as normal when wearing the product.

Use it daily or now and then

The Efemia Bladder Support can be reused every day for three months. After that we recommend that you replace it with a new one to ensure it continues to be effective. You can use it up to 16 hours straight per day. Or, you can use it for shorter periods of time in specific situations where you typically are affected by stress urinary incontinence. The Efemia Bladder Support must not be used when pregnant.

Finding the right size

You can choose between three different sizes for the support rings: 30 mm, 35 mm and 40 mm. In order to find the right size, it’s best to start with the smallest size and continue from there. We offer a start-set with all three, so that you can try them out on your own and find the right size without any stress.
